Auto Insurance Surcharges Brief Explanation

Auto Insurance Surcharges are expressed as a percentage of the standard manual auto insurance premium of the insurer/car insurance customer.  Where more than one cheap auto insurance surcharge applies, surcharges are totaled and applied to the standard manual premium of the insurer. Surcharges are mandatory and where an auto insurance policyholder has within a period of three years.  Examples of surcharges:

  1. Been responsible for more than on auto accident
  2. Been convicted of any offense under any act governing highway traffic involving:
    1. Failing to report an auto accident or to five his or her name and license number in the event of an auto accident to police.
    2. Improper passing of school buses or playgrounds.
    3. Driving without due care attention.
    4. DUI
